"Allie (pictured above with her boy,
Cameron) is our second AARF Silver Paws dog. She came to us very shortly
after our first AARF dog, our beloved JT, died and we were still mourning
our loss. But her need for a safe and loving home was greater than
our grief and we are now blessed with another wonderful pet and companion
that we have quickly grown to love. Allie is a yellow lab about 6-8 years
old who from day one nuzzled her way into our hearts. Like most labs
she is both sweet and goofy! She loves to play and to chew on toys.
We have another rescue dog in our home, a golden retriever named Jake,
and Allie immediately assumed Jake’s
toys were hers as well. Jake had a few weeks of indignant protectiveness,
gathering up and sitting on his favorite toys like a mother hen, so
a trip to the pet store was in order. We stocked up on chew toys and
now they both happily play and chew together! While we don’t know the first
part of Allie’s life story,
we look into those beautiful brown eyes and know the rest of her
life will be spent with us. We’ve had several people tell us
that after hearing about our AARF dogs, they are inspired to adopt
a rescue animal and that may be the best benefit of all." The Cowan Family |
